About Us

Shady Brook Cinemas 12 is an independently owned 12-screen movie theater in Columbia, Tennessee.

H.P. "Vince" Vinson, III is the owner of Shady Brook Cinemas 12. His family purchased the Dan-Dee Drive In on Pulaski Highway in the early 1950s and then purchased the Sundown Drive-In on Nashville Highway in the mid '50s. The Sundown Drive-In was a staple of Columbia weekend entertainment until it closed in the mid '80s.

The Vinsons purchased the Polk Theater in Downtown Columbia in the 1970's and shortly after that turned it into a twin theater with two screens.

The Vinsons built Shady Brook Cinemas in 1983, originally with 4 screens. In the late '80s two screens were added, and a few years later it was remodeled to have a total of 10 screens. The final two largest screens were added around the year 2000.

In 2015, Mr. Vinson hired his long-time best friend, Connie Poling, to be the new director of the theater. Mrs. Poling hired all new staff, except for IT manager Rob Brickner. Together Mr. Brickner, Mrs. Poling and the new senior management have worked very hard at making Shady Brook Cinemas 12 a fun, clean, inviting environment for the entire family!

We continually strive to maintain the "family" theater environment and add new events and exciting features at the theater, while keeping our prices as economical as possible. We plan on soon adding some in-theater dining features, expanding our alcohol and food service, replacing some seats with recliners, and slowly updating all surfaces to a fresh, new appearance.

We appreciate our community and surrounding towns that make Shady Brook Cinemas 12 Your Muletown Movies!

Shady Brook Cinemas is not part of any national chain and therefore does not accept outside promotions. We have lots of our own promotions, including but not limited to gift/loyalty cards and discount Muletown movie ticket cards!
